This is my one of favorite perennials to grow, Eastern Tiger Swallowtails absolutely love the flowers along with bumblebees, honeybees, and various wild pollinators. Overall it's a top notch plant for the pollinator garden, and it's also an easy perennial to grow from seed. It flowers in the first year, if started indoors in late winter/ early spring. It has little requirements beyond well drained soil and full sun.
To plant lightly scatter on soil surface in pots, soil blocks or seeds trays. These are light dependent germinators, so do not cover. I start ours in our hoop house in late February. I use no lights or heat mats, just garden fleece above and below my soil block trays. I live in Zone 7.
